Author's Intro

Steampunk has been good to me. Early in my writing career, I set a deadline for myself. If I didn’t sell a story or novel by that day, I would quit writing & take up a different pursuit. When the day came & passed, depression gripped me. I loved writing, but it seemed writing didn’t love me.

The next morning, I checked my e-mail & found an acceptance letter! It arrived before midnight the day before… just beating the deadline. My steampunk story had been accepted to Science Fiction Trails & would appear in volume 8. & for that honor, they paid me twenty bucks! It wasn’t much, but I took it as a sign.

As a faithful Mormon, the idea of mixing the two genres intrigued me. So, when D. J. Butler, invited me to co-edit an anthology, I jumped at the chance...
