An English version of my book is being issued in the United States, not because the book is particularly well written, but because of the rising interest in China among U.S. academics. Its publication reflects the rise of China in recent years and the desire on the part of the international community to understand it. The views expressed in this book are those of neither Chinese officialdom nor of the Chinese scholarly community. They are simply the views of an individual Chinese scholar who wishes China to be great and hopes that a great China will contribute more to world peace and stability.
