Burgers : Bagels and Hot Dogs

PREFACE!
Whether you enjoy them as a quick snack or a full meal with friends —burgers, bagels, and hot dogs can be continually reinvented and brought to life as versatile dishes in their own right. And no matter whether the occasion is elegant or more informal, two basics always apply: burgers are luscious, and they turn food into a feast.
Savory burgers made with beef carpaccio and broiled vegetables, with crispy chicken, with shrimp Thai-style, with smoked duck, and with goat cheese, or a sweet version made with a scrumptious chocolate filling... even the most reluctant connoisseurs, who tend to associate them—wrongly—with junk food, will come back for second helpings!
The secret of good burgers lies in fresh ingredients and good-quality homemade sauces.
If you have time, make your own burger buns; shape them individually, and flavor the dough with colorful spices or herbs.
Then add your own touch by scattering them with seeds.
Alternatively, use store-bought buns (found in the bakery section of all supermarkets) or specialty breads, which are widely available and just as good. You can also ask your baker to create custom-made rolls, according
to taste.
In every case, your friends will be amazed when offered these delicious sandwiches along with slices of skillet potato cake, Cajun spiced potatoes, or coleslaw with golden raisins.
